Three Movies Writers Should Watch

Stranger Than Fiction

Will Ferrell isn't always my mug of cocoa (Elf=inane), but I LOVE this movie. Emma Thompson is the kind of writer I want to be, minus the nicotine addiction and sparse home and social life. I love the voice. Also, Maggie Gyllenhaal is, I think, the only one who can make her character's tattoos not look uber-trashy. Dustin Hoffman is also hilarious. On that note, I really want a plush Master Shifu.

Dumpling!

Midnight in Paris

Owen Wilson. Check. Rachel McAdams. Check. Ernest Hemingway. Check. What? Yes! Ernest Hemingway! F. Scott Fitzgerald! Picasso! I loved this movie. The message about nostalgia is great, but I'll still dream of days gone by, thank you.

Limitless

This is a great example of what happens when writers take drugs: they become better writers. JUST KIDDING! That is what happens in the movie ... but not real life, little brothers.

Writers, go watch a movie!

  2. Funny, Elf is the only movie with Will Ferrell I can stomach in the slightest. And HELLO, Emma Thompson was such a good writer BECAUSE of the sparse home and social life and the nicotine addiction. !!!I mean, maybe if Stephanie Meyer had been smoking something....ANYTHING, then Twilight wouldn't have stunk so bad. Writing. I remember when I used to do that. But who can write when one has a Math test to take tomorrow.....
I do have Midnight In Paris on my netflix cue only because I happen to admire one of the actors.....ahem....

  3. Well first of all...good job hooking me into your blog! I always love the way you write. I'm a big Kimber fan. I'm writing these movies down so I can watch them. I watched Stronger Than Fiction awhile ago, but remember liking it. Rebecca
